For some, a garden experience might not be easily accessible so we want to bring the experience to you! Our program is an indoor plant therapy seminar where we come to your facility and conduct an hour seminar on unusual houseplants.  Participants will learn about these unique plants while sitting in a comfortable atmosphere. Some plants may be reminiscent of yesterday while others have only been viewed in books!  Senses are stimulated by being encouraged to touch the plants, smell them, see their visual beauty, and engage in conversation of their favourite plants from past years.  We bring plants that are native to South Africa, the rainforest and Greece to name a few!  It is a hands-on seminar for everyone!  From amateurs to experienced gardeners! Outdoor Healing and Sensory Gardens
We are very pleased to offer garden designs that specifically targets all of the five senses.  A healing garden is a place that should soothe oneself.  A place of solitude where thoughts are your own.  Where a scent stirs memories of the past.  Where the eyes absorb the wonderful spectrum of colours that nature has to offer.  It should also be a gathering place to enjoy family and friends.  A place to reminisce.  A place to nourish the soul.  A garden to entice and promote mobility and physical exercise.  A place where butterflies and birds will stop for a rest and be enjoyed by all.  Please call or email for more detailed information and to arrange for a consultation.

Spring and/or Fall Garden Clean Up Seminars
Spring and Fall Garden Clean Up seminars are also offered by Garden Ideas and Designs!  We have packages available where we come to you and with all the tools to clean up/cut back a 10X10 garden area while participants either assist or cheer us on!  During this hour, we ask participants to speak of their gardens through their lives, their favourite perennials/annual, and we offer tips on pruning, helpful hints and overall enjoy ourselves in the garden at your location.  It is a fun time for all!  Why not make this productive and fun seminar a part of your recreational therapy program?  Call or email for more details.

Seminars and Workshops for Schools, Montessori and Daycare Centers

Educational Plant Seminar with Workshop
Garden Ideas and Designs will bring to your classroom an exciting and educational hour of a variety of unusual plants that are native to varies countries from around the world.  A rabbit foot fern, bromeliad, living stones, tillansia (air hanging plant) dinosaur plant, and staghorn fern are a few of the extraordinary plants that are studied. The students will learn about the different characteristics of each unique plant, observe the parts of the plants, the function of each part and discover how each plant adapted in order to survive in their diverse environments.  In conjunction with the curriculum, emphasis will be on the importance to be responsible and caring citizens to our environment. This would be a hands-on learning experience for each student to interact with different plant species that perhaps they would only read about in books.  Each student will be taught how to pot their own small plant into an eco friendly, biodegradable container made from bamboo, rice and straw and take their potted plant home along with instructions on how to care for their plant.  Please note the plants are all safe and we are happy to provide you with a police criminal report.  Please contact us for further information and to request a detailed brochure.
